Last week, I had the incredible privilege of being inducted as a CI Fellow at the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows annual meeting and induction ceremony in Denver, Colorado. This recognition holds immense pride for me, considering the path that led me here.
Early in my career, while focused on product marketing in the high-tech software market, a spark ignited. Developing competitive positioning materials and sales enablement sparked a passion for competitive intelligence (CI). I realized I had a knack for it, and I pursued this passion wholeheartedly.
Driven by this interest in competitive, I honed my skills, immersing myself in the CI community. I even created a conference dedicated to competitive marketing, competitivemarketing.com. This journey allowed me to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in CI, including the late Brian Bonazzoli, who became a mentor guiding me during crucial career decisions.
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work with leading software companies like Red Hat, VMware, Quest Software, and Computer Associates. These dynamic environments nurtured my creativity and competitive spirit, fueling my success.
Being inducted into the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows feels like a truly meaningful validation of my dedication to CI. Their mission statement perfectly encapsulates my career and ongoing commitment.
The Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows provides thought-leadership, educational guidance, and awareness of sound and ethical intelligence practices. Our mission revolves around initiatives and services as Ambassadors, Champions, Mentors, and Educators (ACME) to practitioners and users of competitive, strategic, decision, and related areas of intelligence.
This aligns perfectly with my passion for supporting the CI community, not just during my active career, but even beyond.
I am incredibly grateful to those who championed my nomination: Ellen Naylor, Jay Nakagawa, Alysse Nochels, and Clara Smyth. Your support means the world to me.
